Cat Aftercooler is used to cool the intake air after it has been compressed by turbocharger. Cat Aftercooler is a mechanical heat exchanger that is designed to remove the heat-of-compression from the compressed air flow and to prep the air so it can be used in air-operated equipment. These high temperatures are so intense that they can be dangerous if not lowered before the air gets pushed out.
