A fan drive suction shaft is a component used in the cooling system of large diesel engines. It is a hollow shaft that runs from the fan clutch to the fan hub and is supported by bearings at each end. It works by transmitting power from the engine to the fan clutch, which then engages the fan to pull air through the radiator.
