An Expansion Plug, also known as a freeze Plug, is a small metal disc that is press-fitted into a hole in the engine block. The purpose of the Expansion Plug is to seal off a hole in the block that was left there during the casting process. It is designed to provide a tight seal that prevents coolant from leaking out of the engine block. The Plug is made of soft metal, such as brass or aluminum.
