A Differential Pressure Sensor is used to measure the pressure difference before and after the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in a diesel engine exhaust unit. As the filter becomes clogged with soot and other particulate matter, the pressure differential across the filter increases. This increased differential pressure is detected by the sensor and sent to the engine control unit (ECU), which then triggers a regeneration event to clean the filter and reduce emissions.
