The aftercooler core has a series of finned tubes or plates that facilitate the transfer of heat from the compressed air to the coolant. The housing is designed to provide a secure and sealed enclosure for the core, ensuring efficient heat exchange and preventing any coolant or air leaks. Its main function is to cool down the hot, compressed air produced by the turbocharger, reducing its temperature and increasing its density.
