The Cotter Valve Spring Cap typically has a small hole in the center that allows for a cotter pin to be inserted. The cotter pin passes through the hole in the cap and through a small hole in the valve stem, securing the cap in place and preventing it from becoming dislodged and retaining spring provides a secure and reliable means of holding the valve in place, ensuring proper engine operation and preventing damage to the cylinder head and other engine components.
